Whereas there are a number of Lithium battery technologies available we believe Lithium-Ion Phosphate Batteries (LiFePO4) as the best battery technology for our customers. LiFePO4 is an ideal replacement for AGM Deep Cycle (Lead Acid) batteries as LiFePO4 operates at a similar voltage and is the safest form of Lithium technology. It is also environmentally friendly because phosphate is not hazardous to the environment.
The following is a summary of the main advantages of LiFePO4 batteries over AGM.
LiFePO4 Batteries:
1. Reduction in overall weight:
LiFePO4 batteries are around 1/3 of the weight of AGM. This weight reduction produces fuel savings when towing and results in increased boat speed for watercraft. Also easier for personal carrying.
2. Reduced replacement costs:
LiFePO4 batteries have six time the number of charging cycles. This means an AGM Deep Cycle battery would be replaced 6 times over the life of a LiFePO4 battery.
3. Flat Discharge Curve:
LiFePO4 batteries more efficiently use battery capacity.
4. Greater Battery Capacity:
LiFePO4 batteries have a recommended Depth of Discharge (DOD) of 80% whereas AGM is 50% resulting in 60% more usable battery capacity.
5. LiFePO4 batteries charge much faster.
6. Low Self-discharge rate:
LiFePO4 batteries can be stored between charges for twice the time than AGM Deep Cycle. Therefore it is less likely that batteries will be damaged when stored uncharged or months.
7. Memory effect:
LiFePO4 batteries are not harmed by being left in storage in a less than fully charged state. They are not subject to battery “memory effect”.
LiFePO4 batteries operate at a much lower cost per Kw over the life of the battery. Resulting in a lower total cost of ownership.
LiFePO4 batteries can power household devices, be used as a backup battery or supply any device for which you would usually use a lead acid battery.
LiFePO4 batteries are ideal for camping, RVs, boating or for storing solar energy. LiFePO4 batteries are the ultimate all-rounder!
