LOCATION:
David Parr Park, Alexandra Hills, QLD
PROJECT SUMMARY:
Redland City Council identified the need to improve nighttime visibility and safety at David Parr Park, a popular community space in Alexandra Hills. While the park was heavily used during the day by families and visitors, it became dark, unsafe, and largely unusable after sunset—impacting dog walkers, children on holiday, and those looking for a shelter to use in the evening.
The council required a lighting solution that was reliable, vandal-resistant, cost-effective, and easy to install without the need for trenching or disrupting park use.
SOLUTION:
Star 8 Australia’s Commercial Solar Bollard Lights and Bifacial Solar Shelter Lights were selected as the ideal solution and installed in March 2026. The bollard lights were paired with their compatible ground mounting kits, allowing for an easy and efficient installation process.
RESULT:
David Parr Park is now alight every night, significantly improving visibility and usability. Local families, dog walkers, and visitors can now comfortably use the park’s pathways and shelters after dusk.
The project delivered a durable, low-maintenance, and cost-effective lighting solution that aligns with the council’s safety and sustainability goals—demonstrating how solar lighting can transform public spaces without the need for complex installation.
